From as far back as I can remember, I’ve had a deep love for cats and felt a calling to rescue those who crossed my path. When I was just two years old, my family moved from Massachusetts to New Hampshire, where my grandmother—who raised me after my biological mother passed—decorated my room with all the things I loved, including two pictures of cats. One picture, of a sad, injured gray tabby, resonated with me so deeply that I couldn’t bear to look at it, and I threw it out.
Even then, I felt a strong connection to animals in need.
In our new neighborhood, I spent time with Elsie, a kind woman who lived nearby and had a cat named Morris. When Elsie became ill and had to move away, her family left Morris behind. Seeing him alone and outside, I started feeding him, and eventually, he became my first rescued cat. Morris lived with us for many years, and his memory stays close to my heart.
After we moved to New Jersey, my love for rescuing cats continued. I adopted a shelter cat named Frisky, and when she had kittens, I kept one, naming him Morris—just like my first rescue.
Over the years, as I moved into my own apartment and later to New York City for school, I continued rescuing stray cats. From Morris III to Kramer, and eventually to the stray cats in the alley behind my grandmother’s house, my journey of rescuing and caring for cats never stopped. My grandmother, a constant support, took care of many of the cats when I couldn’t, earning the nickname "Alley Cat Angel" for her devotion.
Together, we created a safe space for countless cats, providing them with love, food, and the care they deserved.
Today, as a 501(c)(3) charity, our mission continues. If you’d like to support our rescue efforts, you can make a donation here. Every contribution helps us provide food, medical care, and shelter for cats in need. Thank you for helping us give these animals the second chance they deserve.
Alley Cats Angels was born out of a personal experience when I found myself in the hospital, battling cancer, and unable to care for my beloved 16-year-old cat, Germany.
Despite my best efforts and the help of friends and family, it wasn’t enough to provide the consistent care he needed. By the time I returned home after three weeks, Germany had stopped eating, and I faced the heartbreaking decision to let him go. I was also working to socialize stray alley cats near my home but couldn’t provide the stability they needed during my six rounds of chemotherapy and subsequent radiation.
This experience inspired me to create Alley Cats Angels—a safe haven for pets whose owners are unable to care for them due to hospitalization or illness.
Our mission is to provide peace of mind to people who are hospitalized or facing medical treatments, knowing their pets are loved and cared for in their absence. We believe that no one should have to worry about their pets while fighting for their health.
At Alley Cats Angels, we also focus on helping stray and feral cats receive essential care, including Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) programs, medical attention, and food, as well as helping individuals adopt loving cats to improve their mental or physical health.
At Alley Cats Angels, your support helps provide critical care for pets whose owners are hospitalized or facing medical treatments, as well as for stray and feral cats in need. Your donations enable us to offer food, medical care, and foster services, ensuring these animals are loved and cared for when their families can’t be there for them. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps us continue our mission of compassion and care.
